1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Gerhard Kanzler
Ahornweg 1
83410 Laufen, Germany
Email: sagforge@rz-solutions.dev
2. Data that stays on your device
Bikes, forks, shocks, springs, tires, wear parts, presets, rides, service entries, notes, and photos you enter in SagForge are stored only on your iPhone. We have no access to them. They only leave your device when you share them yourself (setup file, link, QR code, Bike Pass PDF, backup file) or when they are part of your own iCloud or device backup.
- Photos: Photos from the camera or your library are resized and saved without metadata — that is, without location (GPS).
- Apple Health: If you choose to, SagForge reads cycling workouts (start time, duration, distance) from Apple Health to add them as rides. SagForge never writes data to Health. Health data is not sent to us or any third party, is not used for advertising, and is not included in usage statistics.
- Notifications: Service and sealant reminders are local notifications scheduled by your iPhone. No data is sent for them.
- Backups: A backup is a file you save yourself (for example, to iCloud Drive). SagForge does not upload it anywhere.
3. Anonymous usage statistics in the app
To help improve SagForge, the app anonymously counts which features are used — for example, “ride saved,” “backup created,” or “Pro offer shown.” We use the open-source software Aptabase for this, which we run ourselves on a server operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany. No data is transferred to third parties or to any third country.
- What is sent: the name of the action with predefined values (for example, “source: timer”), app version, device model, iOS version, and language setting.
- What is not sent: your content (bike names, notes, locations, setup values, photos, Health data), device or advertising ID, and contact details.
- Aptabase does not store IP addresses. A server-side identifier for a single day is derived from the IP address, device type, and a random value that is regenerated daily; the random value is discarded after 24 hours, so usage on different days cannot be linked. The country of origin is derived from the IP address.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Turn it off: in SagForge under “More → About → Anonymous usage statistics.”
4. Purchases and subscriptions
SagForge Pro is purchased and managed through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we receive no payment or billing details, only the status of your subscription on your device. Apple is the controller for payment processing; Apple’s Privacy Policy applies.
5. This website
This website is hosted on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) in a data center in Germany. When you visit it, the server processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time of access, page requested, browser identifier) to deliver the page and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not measure reach. Fonts are served from our own server — nothing is loaded from Google or other third parties.
6. Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall SagForge. Anonymous statistics events are deleted once they are no longer needed for analysis.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object. Because the statistics are anonymous, we may not be able to link server-side events to a person and therefore cannot provide information about them individually.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
8. Changes
If SagForge changes, we will update this policy. The version published here applies.
